Argentina's citizenship by investment programme is generating interest, but it sits at a different stage of development from the Caribbean options investors typically compare it against.
The legal framework exists — Decree 366/2025 amended the Citizenship Law to recognise investment-based naturalization — but the final qualifying criteria have not been published. For investors weighing Argentina against established programmes such as St. Kitts and Nevis, that distinction matters. Argentina's emerging citizenship by investment programme presents a very different proposition from established Caribbean programmes. For investors comparing Argentina with St. Kitts and Nevis or other Caribbean options, the biggest difference today is certainty: Caribbean programmes are operational, while important details of Argentina's programme remain unconfirmed.
Argentina vs St. Kitts Citizenship
St. Kitts and Nevis has operated citizenship by investment for decades. Applicants therefore have established investment routes, requirements and application procedures against which to make a decision.
Argentina is different. Decree 366/2025 amended Argentina's Citizenship Law to recognize naturalization based on a "relevant investment," regardless of the applicant's length of residence. However, the Ministry of Economy is responsible for defining which investments qualify.
That makes any current Argentina vs St. Kitts citizenship comparison inherently uneven. One is an established programme; the other has a legal framework whose final commercial requirements are still developing.

No. Argentine citizenship should not be confused with European Union citizenship.
Visa-free short-stay travel within the Schengen Area does not provide an Argentine citizen with automatic rights to live or work in EU countries.

The answer depends on what you are trying to achieve.
1. Certainty: established Caribbean programmes currently offer clearer rules.
2. South American mobility: Argentina's relationship with Mercosur creates a different proposition.
3. Timing: investors unwilling to wait for final regulations may prefer an existing programme.
4. Long-term strategy: investors specifically interested in Argentina or the wider region may find the emerging programme worth monitoring.
Argentina therefore shouldn't be viewed simply as a cheaper or better Caribbean alternative.
